Outdoor Warning sirens are designed to notify people outdoors and not indoors. To receive notification indoors you should have a weather radio which will notify you when severe weather is approaching. Weather radios can be purchase at any of the home improvement stores.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District services the communities of Grayslake, Wildwood, Gages Lake, Third Lake, Round Lake Park, Round Lake Beach, Highland Lake, Fremont Township, and unincorporated Lake County. The Grayslake Fire Protection District covers a total of 25 square miles and approximately 35,000 people.



On Monday July 6th, the Grayslake Fire Protection District Board of Trustees appointed Deputy Chief Dan Pierre to Fire Chief. Chief Pierre hasa been with the Grayslake Fire Protection District since 1994 and has a Bachelors Degree from Southern Illinois University in Fire Science Management. We are excited for Chief Pierre and the future of the Grayslake Fire Protection District.

The Grayslake Fire Department is offering fire extinguisher recycling to the public. Please drop off expired, used, or non-working extinguishers at Grayslake Fire Station 1.

The Grayslake Fire Department, in conjunction with the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance and the Office of the State Fire Marshal, is offering free smoke alarms with installation (required to be done by the Grayslake Fire Department) to home owners in the Grayslake Fire District.
